A Birthday for Trig and a National Television Debut for this Conservative Girl

UPDATE: MAKE SURE TO TUNE IN TO WHEEL OF FORTUNE THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT, APRIL 21, BECAUSE I AM GOING TO BE A CONTESTANT. I TAPED MY EPISODE BACK AT THE END OF JANUARY, AND CONTESTANT COORDINATORS SAID JUST MAKING THE SHOW IS A FETE IN ITSELF. OVER 6 MILLION INDIVIDUALS SUBMIT APPLICATIONS EACH YEAR, GOING THROUGH THE AUDITION PROCESS, AND OF THOSE 6 MILLION, FEWER THAN 600 ARE CHOSEN AS CONTESTANTS EACH YEAR. I AM TRULY BLESSED!!! YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE HERE. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LISTINGS FOR CHANNELS/SHOW TIMES, AND SPREAD THE WORD; THANKS!!!

Just this past Sunday, little Trig Palin turned two years old. This Conservative Girl with a Voice is sure that this precious, little angel had a great birthday enjoying cake, ice cream and opening presents. Trig is such a gift to those around him, and the Palin clan is so lucky to have him in their lives. I wrote a heart-filled post this past summer about Trig and my pro-life stance that I have decided to re-post below:

This entry comes as I am traveling down the road. As a young woman, abortion is a topic that seems to be looked at by many as not much of a phenomenon, which is is very sad given the circumstances of what actually takes place during an abortion. I know it is not very politically correct to voice a personal opinion, but frankly I really don't care :) So this is going to be an entry from the heart, and frankly, I wish the folks in D.C. would speak from the heart on matters that personally effect them.

As a woman who values life, it pains me to think about the endless number of unborn babies who lose their lives to abortion each year. I began taking my pro-life stance seriously when I entered my mid 20s. All life is precious, and a baby deserves the chance to grow up. If given the chance, he or she may grow up to become to become a doctor, teacher, lawyer, or even president. The possibilities for these children are endless.

As you all know, my role model is Sarah Palin. The ultimate reason I respect her so much is because she walks the walk, which is the reason so many fear her. Those who fear her are unable to do so. In choosing life, Sarah welcomed into the world, a precious, perfect baby boy, Trig, who was born with Down Syndrome. Trig is not only the apple of his family's eyes, but of Americans everywhere as he captured the hearts and minds of Americans when we were first introduced to him during the 2008 presidential campaign. There are so many children like Trig all over our great country, and while it is true that children with special needs will face challenges, the joys they will experience will far surpass the challenges that will come their way. It is sad to think that so many children with birth defects are aborted each year; the numbers are staggering. During the 2008 presidential campaign, I remember hearing that an estimated 90% of unborn babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted each year. When I look at beautiful children like Trig, I can't imagine how someone could choose to abort a sweet, innocent child with little fingers and toes, who will one day grow big enough to hold on to his or her mommy or daddy's hand and big enough to sit on daddy's shoulders. It's the everyday little things that matter most.

Life is precious and a woman who chooses life should be commended. In just having the baby and choosing life, she is giving her baby a chance. Yes, it is true that some women are not able to care for their newborns, but there are so many parents out there looking to adopt. If adoption was discussed more, I believe more women would choose life. Women unable to have children and those parents just wanting the chance to adopt would also greatly benefit. I know women who unexpectedly become pregnant are scared and sometimes don't know whom to turn, but those who choose life are heroes in my eyes and deserve our continuous thanks and support. Bristol Palin is a young woman who deserves just that. In choosing life, she welcomed the sweetest, most beautiful baby boy into the world and should be commended for keeping her baby. As she told Fox News' Greta Van Susteran, she can't even begin to imagine life without her sweet baby boy, Tripp. Bristol is a great example of a young woman, who despite her circumstances, persevered and became a stronger woman who is now a great mother;little Tripp is lucky to have her.

In closing, I began writing this entry a couple days ago while traveling to my family's cabin near Lake Tahoe. Since I started writing this entry, I have had the chance to sit amongst the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and reflect upon my pro-life stance and how important it is in my life along with my faith in Jesus Christ. Becoming a mother changes a woman's life, and I can't wait till the day I have children of my own. Being a parent is one of the most rewarding God-given responsibilities, full of a lot of firsts: First word, first step, first haircut, first day of school, first dance and first boyfriend or girlfriend. These are milestones in a child's life; don't all children deserve the opportunity to reach these important milestones? I can't wait to experience all of these firsts with my children. Although being a parent can be tough at times, the joys that comes along with being a parent make it well worth it. Children ARE our future, and ALL children deserve the chance to live out their dreams. Let's let them do that!!!

HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY, TRIG!!! I AM POSITIVE THAT YOU WILL CONTINUE TO INSPIRE AND MAKE AMERICA SMILE!!!

A Move Toward a Better Way for America

Sarah Palin ROCKED the Southern Republican Leadership Conference this past Friday. Once again, she spoke so articulately that common sense conservative message- a message that is so needed today. Sarah is not afraid to stand up and speak out, and I am so glad that she is unafraid to tell it like it is. Like Ronald Reagan before her, Sarah gives us hope that America will once again take its place as that Shining City on a Hill. Thank you so much, Sarah, for speaking the truth and doing so with such emotion, conviction and pure common sense. This Conservative Girl with a Voice thanks you for what you're doing and continue to do in the name of the First Amendment, freedom and liberty!!!

Read this and BE OUTRAGED!!!

Our military men and women do so much to protect us and keep us free. They travel to distant lands and endure the most dangerous of circumstances. Because of the sacrifice they make, you would think everything would be done to keep them as safe and comfortable as possible. Whether it is a matter safety or providing them with a good meal, these men and women need to experience some of the comforts of home.

My mom shared with me an article today, an article that literally made me sick to my stomach as I read it. I'm sure after reading it, you will be just as angry as I am, and you will be crying foul... better yet, you'll be yelling, "Give that soldier a Whopper, darn it!" Click here to read this article for yourselves!!!

I'm sure you will be left wondering why a treat like a hamburger is such a threat to our military men and women.

UPDATE: Alaska's Conservative Voice Eddie Burke Announces he WILL Run for Lieutenant Governor

UPDATE: Alaska Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell(R) announced last week that he was withdrawing from the Lt. Gov. race. This leaves the fight for the Republican nomination between Conservative Eddie Burke and RINO Jay Ramras (pictured by Eddie at right). Alaska's Editor for Red County, Tom Lamb, recently wrote a great piece entitled Eddie Burke Throws A Wrench, His T-Shirt and his Political Hat into the Lt. Governor's Race. I encourage you all to read it here. Make sure to follow Eddie campaign on Twitter @EddieBurke4AK. You also support him on Facebook by becoming a fan here.

What a better night announce this great news other than on the same night of Sarah Palin's "Real American Stories" debut on FOX. I'm honored to call Eddie Burke a great friend, and even prouder to call him a great American. He is truly an ordinary person who is doing extraordinary things. On behalf of all my readers here at "Conservative Girl with a Voice," rock on, Eddie!!! We stand with you as you stand up for Alaskans everywhere. The following is the Press Release that was released earlier today:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONSERVATIVE MEDIA PERSONALITY BEGINS REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN TO
CHAMPION RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT IN ALASKA

Press Conference
When: Friday, April 2,
10:00 a.m.

Where: Region II Elections Office
2525 Gambell St
Anchorage, Alaska

--ANCHORAGE - April 2, 2010 –

Former Anchorage radio talk show host and small
business owner Eddie Burke has entered the race as a Republican candidate for
Lieutenant Governor. Though Alaska has financially benefited from its abundant
natural resources, particularly the success of the oil and gas industry, Eddie understands that current state budgets are unsustainable over the long term. Therefore,he will encourage and support the Governor and State Legislature to be fiscally responsible in the governance of Alaska. Eddie knows that thoughtful actions taken today will help secure the future for Alaska's children.

The issues important to Eddie Burke are those that are important to the livelihood of all Alaskans. As a well-known and outspoken media personality on local radio, Eddie has been a staunch defender of the Second Amendment, the rights of the unborn and the concerns of Alaska's veterans. As he campaigns for Lieutenant Governor, he will continue to be a passionate proponent of these important issues, while also stressing the importance of the responsible stewardship of the State's financial resources.

Eddie Burke has been an active member of the Alaskan community since he arrived 38
years ago. In addition to his media career, he has been a small business owner and
active on the boards of Special Olympics, Crimestoppers, Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, Legislative Committee and President of Alaska State Snowmobile Association. Furthermore, Eddie gained valuable legislative experience as a Chief-of-
Staff in the Alaska State Legislature.

Eddie Burke resides in Anchorage, Alaska with Linda, his wife of 28 years. They are
the parents of four children, and the proud grandparents of three young Alaskans. Eddie
Burke is seeking the office of Lieutenant Governor in order to secure a bright future for
his family and all Alaskans.

Run, Eddie, run!!!

Make Sure to Catch Sarah's Show TONIGHT!!!

Tune in to Governor Palin on the Fox News Channel TONIGHT!!!

I'm on a Spring Break trip with the Friberg clan out here in the deserts near San Diego. Like Sarah, we love to get outside and do a little extreme sports like riding quads, motorcycles and dune buggies. I just wanted to post a quick note reminding everyone to tune into the Fox News Channel TONIGHT at 7PST/10EST. Governor Palin's Real American Stories will make its debut. Make sure you all tune in tonight or TIVO it. Let's all spread the word and encourage everyone we know to tune in too. I, for one, cannot wait to watch this show about ordinary people doing extraordinary things!!!
Governor Palin wrote and posted the following note on her Facebook today:

America is exceptional! It’s not her politicians that make her so; it’s her everyday people and the values Americans hold so dear. During this special week let’s take time to honor some exceptional citizens who may have felt ordinary, but by acting on opportunities in front of them, they’ve accomplished some extraordinary things and have made this world a better place. “Real American Stories” highlights some good people who help lift America’s spirit. Enjoy their stories as they inspire all of us to look beyond self and strive to contribute to this great, blessed country.I will be guest hosting “Real American Stories” tonight on Fox News Channel. The show airs at 10pm EDT, 9pm Central, 8pm Mountain, 7pm Pacific, and 6pm Alaska time.

- Sarah Palin

Thank you, Sarah, for hosting an inspiring show that will make Americans, regardless of party, come together as one, realizing how lucky we are to live in the greatest country on earth!!!
