No One Messes with the 'Cuda and Gets Away with it!!!

Tomorrow begins another chapter in the intriguing life that is Sarah Palin. Remember back during the election when the governor's personal email account was hacked into? Well, as you all are probably aware, it was finally discovered that the culprit is believed to be none other than a Tennessee democratic state representative's college-aged son. Not only were important emails released to media outlets, but personal family photos as well. The question I'd liked answered is a simple one: "Why?" The answer is simple: This kid wanted to let the air out of Sarah's ballon. Yet the larger problem with this situation seems to be when to draw the line between a public person's public and private life. There is no doubting that Sarah Palin is a public person, perhaps one of the most famous public people in politics today. Everyone wants to know what she is doing 24/7. Is she is Juneau? Is she in Wasilla? When she going to return to the lower 48. I have to admit that as a self describe "Palinista," I have asked these questions; I think we all have. The gov intrigues us and as her supporters, we want to know the answers. The phrase "The More You Know" seems to be prevalent here. There is nothing wrong with wanting to know what she is doing to help AK and the lower 48. This is one of the reasons why I love that she has a Twitter account. For anyone not connecting on Twitter, set up an account. It is free and can be set up in a matter of minutes. Then, like me, you can follow the gov @AkgovSarahPalin. I have to admit that, in the past, I always laughed at those who "tweeted," but the day I learned the gov had set up an official Twitter account, and it was in fact her, I immediately set up an account that night. I guess this helps to define why I'm a huge supporter, a true Palinista!

The gov is generous enough to keep her followers (that's Twitter speak for those who want to keep tabs on the gov) up to date on what she is doing in AK and the other amazing places she travels to. One of the reasons I like following her is because she likes to tweet a lot, which I can identify with because I am a twitter addict and tweet all the time, as my followers know :) Blame it on me being a huge socializer and talker. (My junior high and high school teachers will always remember me, let's just put it that way.) But, enough about me. The point is that the gov is generous enough to share aspects of her life with us.

While the gov is a public person, her family is not; her personal email, phone numbers, credit card information as well as other secure pieces of information are off limits as well. Sarah has repeatedly said her family is OFF LIMITS. It is one thing if someone agrees to an interview as sweet, brave Bristol did with Greta Van Susteran and People Magazine, but it is another if her cell phone number is leaked to the public, which is allegedly what this punk did. What if this kid or his dad's personal information was leaked to the media? I guarantee they would be upset and demand to know who was responsible. Yet, in typical liberal fashion, liberals don't think about the "What if this happened to me" scenario. Instead, they seek to destroy those innocent individuals who don't have so much as a parking ticket to their names.

What did this young punk think he would uncover? A John Edwards-like juicy affair, that Bristol gave birth to Trig, money laundering, big oil connections? None of which are remotely true. This kid was out to destroy a public official in perhaps the worst way possible. In hacking into her private emails, he became a voyeur of sorts. It is sick in a way when you really think about it. The gov has a right to take off her governor's hat at the end of the day and just be a wife and mother. Instead, this creep ignored all of the rules and dived in head first, ignoring the consequences he now faces if convicted. The gov's family has been more than generous and frankly too kind to the msm. They have kindly welcomed msm outlets such as NBC and ABC into their home, probably knowing all too well that these outlets had a hidden agenda. Yet, for this kid, that wasn't enough. It is my hope that he learns the consequences of his actions and realizes the serious ways in which he violated another's privacy. We are all human, and like the Palin family, we are not on some reality TV show. Our private conversations and written correspondences are just that-private- enough said, and it's time for liberals to wake up and realize that this is a woman of integrity, a woman who is not going to be put in a corner or go away. We Palinistas are also not going to go away; on the contrary, we are here, and we're growing bigger in number and louder in voice. Just as we have stood by the gov in the past, we will stand by her and support her now as she continues to lead AK, which, in turn, helps the lower 48. A few words to the unwise: No one messes with the barracuda and gets away with. This young hacker is evidence of that. Let us hope that, if guilty, this kid gets sentenced the appropriate punishment for the serious crime he has committed.

Learning a Lesson from Carrie and Sarah

Isn't is funny how hypocritical some people can be? More specifically, isn't it funny how hypocritical some liberals can be? The issues and people surrounding the election of 2008 specifically defined the hypocrisy that exists in our country. I have many liberal friends who cannot seem to understand how a pop-culture girl like me can be such a die-hard conservative. They cannot seem to understand how anyone, let alone a woman, can be pro-life, pro-gun, and have strong beliefs in traditional family values. For me, the answer is easy. My parents have raised me with these values, and I hold these values close to my heart. Raised in a Christian home, I have been brought up to love these values, yet also taught to respect those who may not particularly agree with my values. This is America, and the differing views that exist are what make this country great. With that being said, it angers me when certain individuals try to push their views and beliefs off onto someone, yet when someone dares to disagree with them, these individuals become angry and vindictive. I have specifically noticed this to be the case with many liberals out there.

Former Miss California Carrie Prejean is a great example of a young woman who was and still is viciously attacked for the specific beliefs she holds. During the question/answer portion of the Miss USA Pageant, Carrie was asked a question about same-sex marriage. When she responded that, although she believes everyone is entitled to their own opinion, she personally believes marriage should be between man and a woman. The question was asked by liberal, hateful blogger Perez Hilton, who happens to be gay. Many, including Carrie, believe had she answered the question differently, she probably would have been declared the winner of the Miss USA Pageant. Instead of respecting her answer, Hilton took it upon himself to begin a vicious attack against Carrie. I remember the night of the pageant. I specifically had an interest in it because like Carrie, I'm from San Diego, CA. Carrie also went to the same college as my sister, and one of my friends, who I went to college with, is a good friend of Carries; I remember we were messaging each other back and forth about how excited we were that we had a local in competition. Who would have thought that just a few hours later, America would be transfixed on our hometown girl? Here is a brave, intelligent woman who just answered a question to the best of her ability. Instead of respecting her answer, Perez and other liberals began an all-out assault attacking her character and intelligence, calling her some of the most nasty, hateful words ever to be uttered. So much for tolerance. Here is a woman who gave an answer that not only the majority of her state supports, but the entire United States supports. (California recently approved a measure identifying marriage as only between a man and a woman, and the latest appeal to overturn the voters' decision has failed.) Although she was speaking for the majority, the minority could not respect her answer. As we all know, Carrie was eventually stripped of her crown, but no one will strip her of her integrity. This young woman forever will be remembered as a woman who stood up for what she believed in no matter the consequences; she will be blessed for doing so. I know God was looking down on her with pride as she gave that great answer. Recently, while talking with Sean Hannity, Carrie admitted she would answer the question the same way if asked again. Talk about a woman of strong character and virtue.

A short time after the all-out assault on Carrie, Sarah Palin got in touch with her to voice her support. For, like Carrie, Sarah also has been a victim of the left as we know far too well. I believe there was no better person who could relate to what this strong, young woman was going through than the Gov. Throughout the election, the left repeatedly tried to destroy Sarah's character just because she was standing up for what she believed in. Sound familiar? Just like Carrie, Sarah was attacked by these same people who preach that we must all be tolerant and respectful of one another, yet their treatment toward these two women was highly intolerant. Liberals like those who attacked and continue to attack Carrie and Sarah need to sit back and realize that they are not practicing what they preach. How are they ever going to advance the debate on the issues they care so passionately about if they do not show respect to those they are trying to win over to their side? Just because I am not in favor of gay marriage and abortion, does not mean that I hate someone who is gay or has had an abortion. As a born-again Christian, I have been taught to love and pray for my fellow brothers and sisters. We are to forgive, just as Christ has forgiven us. There is nothing wrong with having a good debate on the issues that we care the most deeply about, but it is uncalled for when that debating turns into one of hate. It is hard for me to understand why people could choose to hate two women without even knowing them? Carrie and Sarah have illustrated their love and support for our United State's military and they're commitment to the Special Olympics- two groups that hold no party affiliation. Sarah is currently visiting our brave men and women overseas, and Carrie volunteers for special needs children each week at her church. I'd like to know what those who attack these two women are doing to help individuals in their communities? So, in closing, maybe it is time for those on the left who continue to attack those who disagree with them to take a lesson from conservatives like Carrie and Sarah. I guarantee they would learn a lot about tolerance, acceptance, integrity and personal responsibility.

Sarah's Army

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is a strong woman. I say this because this great woman has everything, including the kitchen sink thrown at her, yet she continues her incredible, strong journey to do what is right. This is a very special woman who deserves to be commended, not belittled. One of the most recent attacks against Sarah and her family does not come from an anonymous liberal blogger, but from a member of the United States Senate, an individual who was elected to serve the great people of his state and, in turn, America. Senator John Kerry,Mass, had a severe lack of moral judgment yesterday when he joked that if a governor had to go missing, why couldn't it be AK Governor Sarah Palin. This is a statement that should never be made to anyone, let alone a woman. Not only was this comment made in bad taste, but it was made during a time when people over in Iran are dying as they protest in the name of democracy. Either Kerry has been in outer space for the past couple weeks, or he is a snobby elitist who has no care for those unrelated to him or his inner circle of the Washington elite. Like you, I'm going to go with the latter option. The term respect comes to mind when thinking about those in power. It is fine to voice your concerns and ideas to a public official, but there is no need to publicly belittle or offend others.

It is very unfortunate that Sarah Palin has become the punching bag for the left. As I have mentioned in other posts, the reason lies in the fact that the left strongly fears Sarah and all she stands for. The evidence lies in the numbers. One recent poll conducted last week shows over 80% of moderate republicans hold a favorable opinion of Palin-the strongest showing in the poll. Other polls have found that Palin has gained significant ground among independents as well since the election. These polls give the left the chills, so they have set course to destroy the candidate and person that is Sarah Palin-yet to no avail. Palin is determined to continue on a path to help her state and the lower 48 achieve energy independence. While Palin is overseas spending time with the men and women who are risking their lives to keep us safe, John Kerry is hanging out with his elite friends sipping champagne and sampling caviar. Sarah Palin is a woman who desires to do good and be a good person, John Kerry is a man who desires to attack and destroy any decent person left in our great country. Let us hope John Kerry takes a long, hard look at the comments he has made not only about our Sarah, but the other men and women who represent us, However, I'm not holding my breath that he will.

What is it with liberals and the children of republicans? More specifically, what is it with liberals and the children of Sarah Palin? The latest attack comes to us by a DNC female blogger, whose name is not even worth this space to print, who has chosen to attack Sarah's youngest child, Trig. Not only is she attacking an innocent, precious child, but a child who has special needs. (Trig was born with Down Syndrome.) For those who may not know, this blogger photo shopped what had been the most adorable picture of Sarah holding baby Trig on stage at the Republican Convention and replaced Trig's head with AK conservative talk radio host Eddie Burke's head. This is beyond despicable. Now, let's just sit back for a minute and imagine what would have happened if a republican blogger photo shopped another person's head on the body of one of President Obama's children? The outrage from the msm would have ensued right away, and the 24 hour news cycle would take every chance to report how evil the republican party was. Yet, let us remember that this was not a democrat's child, but the child of a republican; thus, this is why there is no report of this story on the news. If this isn't one of the best examples of the media bias that exists in our country, you will be hard pressed to find a better example. Little Trig is an innocent child, whom then candidate Obama said should be off limits from attacks, but I guess this woman never got the memo. Sarah Palin and her spokeswoman did the right thing in issuing a statement decrying this woman. Not only was this blogger making a personal attack against Trig, but innocent children like Trig everywhere who are too young to defend themselves. Is this woman so sick that she had to take her obvious hatred and jealousy for Sarah out on a small child? Like John Kerry, this woman has a lot to learn when it comes to playing fair.

Both of these individuals owe Sarah Palin an apology as do the countless other viral individuals who attack this brave woman and her family on a daily basis. Although this is unlikely to happen, there is a bright side to all of this: The more Sarah Palin and her family are attacked, there is an even greater number of people who come to her defense in the form of a great army. This is Sarah's army. I'm a member, you're a member, your mother, father, daughter, son, sister and brother are members too. The only prerequisite being that we have united for a common cause- to fight on behalf of our great warrior Sarah! So, fellow readers let us rise together and continue on our mission to support our brave warrior as she continues to battle on- on behalf of all of us!!!

Talking the Talk, Walking the Walk

Is it a double standard? It seems as if the Media look at democrats and republicans differently when it comes to infidelity. Many democratic politicians including Bill Clinton, James McGreevy, Elliot Spitzer, John Edwards and others have been unfaithful to their wives. As we have seen in recent years and most recently in the last week, republican politicians are also not squeaky clean when it comes to the issue of remaining faithful during marriage. Senator John Ensign (NV) and Governor Mark Sanford (SC) are two men who seemed to have everything going for them politically. It was just back in August when both of these two men were mentioned as possible running mates for John McCain. With everything seeming to be going right for these two men, the question remains why they put everything they had worked so hard to accomplish on the back burner for their own personal satisfaction? There are probably a lot excuses one can come up with for why one has an affair, but I am not going to base this entry around why these men did what they did. I am writing this entry as a young conservative woman who values family and everything marriage stands for.

The answer to my opening question is "yes." After watching various news shows today and in recent months, it is clearly apparent that republican politicians are held to a much higher standard than their democrat counterparts. There are various reasons for this, one being that the mainstream media have become so liberal that they sensationalize any negative story about the GOP that comes their way. Although this is a large reason for what is occurring, I see something else going on here. The phrase "If you talk the talk, be ready to walk the walk" is a prevalent theme here. The republican party has long been hailed as the party of traditional family values, which is one of the prime reasons I love my party. Just as every life is precious, so is the union of husband and wife. My parents have been happily married for almost 29 years. My parents have always taught me the value of commitment, hard work and self respect when it comes to making a marriage last. It is a fact that a marriage will have its ups and down, but at the end of the day, if a couple comes together and supports one another, they can get through the various obstacles that may block their path. (Please Note: I know this is the real world and not all marriages will last for a variety of heart-breaking reasons, so I do not want to come across as judging anyone who has gone through a divorce. I know many people who have gone through this experience, and my heart goes out to you.) I have been brought up with the belief that marriage vows are sacred and must be obeyed. When one breaks a marriage vow, they are literally breaking the contract he/she has entered into. What message does this send to our children?

While staying at my family's cabin near beautiful Lake Tahoe, I had the opportunity to listen to the area's local talk radio station directly following the announcement of John Ensign's confirmation of an affair. A caller called into Bill Mander's Reno, NV radio show, and something this caller said struck a cord. The caller had been a supporter of Ensign, but said once the senator cheated on his wife, he, in turn, "cheated on the entire state of NV." This is a strong statement from a concerned citizen, but there is truth to his statement. Not only did Ensign and Sanford forever hurt those most close to them, they also hurt those who relied on them most to uphold the very ideals they partially based their entire political careers on. Republican politicians need to wake up and realize they cannot just talk about traditional family values, they need live them, as Monica Crowley stated on tonight's O'Reilly Factor. This is the prominent distinction that separates republicans from democrats. Democrats get away with their wrongdoings mostly unscathed in the public eye because they, for the large part, do not center their political careers around the values republicans hold most dear. It is for this very reason that there are so many disappointed with these two men's actions.

With all that is written above, it is also important to note that the republican party is also the party of forgiveness. As a young Christian woman, I have been taught to forgive, and that is what I am choosing to do in the cases mentioned above. Now, I know it can be easy for me to forgive these men because I am not personally connected to these men or their families, but I believe everyday individuals like myself can learn from situations like these, and our party can become stronger and more united in the long run. These men are examples that human beings are not perfect by any means as their actions illustrate. They are now having to go through the difficult process of making amends with their loved ones for their hurtful actions. While I applaud them for stepping down from their various leadership posts, I do not believe they should resign from office unless it is proven that what they did politically interfered with the office they hold. As a woman, I am very disappointed in them and feel the most pain for their wives and children for they are the ones who are left to pick up the pieces. Redemption is a great word. A man who has proven this to be true is former NY Mayor Rudy Guilliani. While on Neil Cavuto's show today, he briefly eluded to the personal problems he has had in the past. He is a man who has asked for forgiveness and been forgiven; he is proof positive that one can go through terrible times and come out stronger in the end. It is my hope that the same conclusion will happen for Ensign and Sanford. Let us pray for these men and their families as they forge through the rough river that has forever changed their lives. It is my hope that future political candidates look to these men as examples of the importance of remaining faithful to the issues you hold most dear.

Conservative Warrior for Our Time

What a day I had today!!! First of all in all of my wildest dreams, I never thought I'd become a blogger. I had always loved to write and studied journalism and English in college, but never thought past working in a newsroom, reporting hard news or sports or becoming a professor at a local community college. The election of 2008 changed many of the perceptions I once held about the media. As an intern in college, the journalists I surrounded myself with were great, objective journalists who sought the truth fairly and honestly. That is how I perceived all the media to be, but boy was I wrong. It was after a little contemplating that this blog was formed after Lisa over at the awesome Why Mommy is a Republican Blog (wmiar) told me I should put all my brainpower to work and write about what I was most passionate about:politics! Her faith in me as a new, young blogger means the world. If any of you are not reading or following her blog, you are definitely missing out. She is truly an inspiration. Sarah Palin is another reason why I chose to begin a blog. She inspires me to want to be active in politics and work hard to become the strong female politician that I hope to one day become. It is because of her that I want to one day run for office and get involved politically. After being announced as John McCain's running mate, I found a conservative role model that young, conservative women like me could identify with. I finally was able to identify with what many of my democrat female friends felt when Hillary Clinton decided to run for president. Although I do not agree politically with Hillary, I have to admit that I had tears in my eyes and an intense feeling of pride when she gave that final speech before bowing out as a presidential candidate for she did put some cracks in a ceiling that once looked out of reach for women everywhere. But it was Sarah Palin who put even more cracks into that ceiling that is starting to look not so far away. I truly admire Sarah Palin for what she represents to me and other women everywhere!!! She is an Every woman!!!
Following the election, my family and I wanted to send something to Sarah and her family to show the gratitude we felt toward her and her family. My mom, Cyndi, runs an embroidery small business here in San Diego, so I immediately thought it would be really cool if we sent her and her family some personalized embroidered items. My mom agreed, loving Sarah and all she represents as much as I do, so we brainstormed what to get each member of the family. We ended up embroidering matching beanies and scarves for Sarah and the girls, beanies for Todd and Track, a fleece jacket for little, precious Trig, and a Wasilla, AK beanie for baby Tripp who was shortly born right after we sent the gifts. To our pleasant surprise, we were overjoyed to see a picture of little Tripp wearing the beanie on TV during a couple news shows. My family and I will be forever indebted to Sarah Palin for what she means to America and the conservative movement as a whole. This is a woman who doesn't just talk the talk, but ALSO walks the walk, which, as I have mentioned before, is why so many fear her and want to bring her down.
A couple of weeks after we sent her the gifts, I was going through the mail on a Saturday when I came across a small envelope from the Office of the Governor in Juneau, AK. I couldn't believe it. The governor, who is an extremely busy lady as everyone knows, had sent my family and I a personalized thank you note thanking us for each item and our kind words of support. Sarah Palin is a one-of-a-kind special individual to take the time out her super-busy schedule to send my family a memento that we will forever cherish; she is truly amazing!!! Not only did she make our day, but she took the time, which says a lot about what this woman represents; she IS truly the real deal!!! I wonder if President Obama has taken the to personally write a thank you note to any of his supporters following the election?
Many of you may be wondering why I would choose today to write about a very special event that occurred months ago? The answer is simple: Sarah Palin has done it yet again.A couple weeks ago,as belated birthday gifts, we sent Trig and Tripp each a matching red T-shirt with a little embroidered moose and their names embroidered on them. My mom and I felt bad for little Piper because a neighbor, who lives down the street from the Governor's mansion, had complained of too much traffic after Piper, the little capitalist that she is, set up a lemonade stand outside the mansion, selling lemonade to the various tourists who stopped by. Let's just say, the result has been solved, and little Piper is still happily selling lemonade. We sent Sarah and Piper matching I heart Alaska T-shirts, as well as a small note of appreciation for what she continues to do for AK, and thus for us here in the lower 48. Today, Sarah sent us another thank you note thanking us for the continued support we have shown toward her and her family. I know I am not alone, for there are countless others out there who have their own personal stories for how Sarah has personally touched their hearts in some unique way. This just illustrates what Sarah means to our country as a whole. Sarah is a strong warrior who presses on for the great state of Alaska. As she continues to press on in helping her state, she continues to amaze her supporters with her intense grit and endless determination to always do the right thing, no matter how unpopular the decision may be. Polls don't matter, results do, and Sarah Palin knows what it takes to bring about those results. Her thoughtful nature endures, and her actions speak louder than words ever will; she is truly amazing!!!

Say a Little Prayer Tonight

I just got home from traveling all day from Lake Tahoe to my home in San Diego, but I just wanted to stop by to post a short message to the readers of my blog as well as Lisa's WMIAR fantastic blog. As everyone is aware, the people of Iran are facing perhaps the most dire of circumstances as they fight to have their voices heard. Civil protests are everyday occurrences here in the America, events we take for granted. It is my hope that all readers of this entry take a little break to say a prayer for all those Iranians protesting. Their very protesting symbolizes their desire for regime change. These people, many of whom are no older than 27, are risking their lives to make a difference, and I pray to God that they are successful in their efforts. So pray for their safety and their families safety. Pray for these courageous Iranians as they push on and fight in the name of democracy.

Conservatism in Action

As many of my readers know, I am currently away at my family's cabin near Lake Tahoe for a little R&R. It's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just take some time to chill out and do some of my favorite things like fish, hike, sail, read and spend time with family and friends up here in God's country! One of the things that I go without when I'm up here in the mountains is television. Although I have spent every summer at the lake, it takes a little time to adjust to not being able to turn on the news every morning and watch as I drink my cup of coffee. I do have to admit that it has been kind of nice to wake up knowing that I won't be turning on the TV to see yet another mainstream media (msm) report about the anointed one. I'm not totally without any communication as I have my radio and blackberry with all the conveniences I need to keep up to date with what's going on in the rest of the world. When I'm up here it's all about listening to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanitty and Michael Savage. These great conservative voices are a great change from the liberal msm.
While listening to Rush the other day, a great thing happened that hasn't ever since President Obama was sworn into office: I was actually happy about the information being reported. A recent study was done regarding conservative/liberal identification. When asked if people identify themselves as conservative or liberal, a vast majority of people identified themselves as conservative. While the msm will try to divert attention away from this study, it is encouraging to know that there are many more conservatives out there than one may think. It is important to note that those asked in this poll probably have different definitions of what the term conservative means to them, but the wide gap in definition between what is liberal and what is conservative is by no means connected in any way. As a young conservative, this study illustrates to me the importance of the conservative movement in America and its impact for years to come.
When I listen to the radio verses the TV, it can sometimes seem as if there are two different Americas. This poll is a great example of this. When the msm reports that many identify themselves as liberals, the radio reports a study like the one above. The truth if the matter is that the msm is not reporting fairly and honestly. As a student of journalism, it is very sad to see this medium, I studied so intensely and with pride just a few years ago, become a sick, viral, infested profession in which only a handful of respected, fair journalists remain. As a journalism student in college, I learned that a story isn't a story unless all the facts are checked and the Five W's (who, what, when, where, why) are thoroughly researched. I learned the hard way when I received a "0" score on one of my very first college journalism stories because I used the word "and" instead of "or," when giving symptoms of a disease. When I got my score back, I thought to myself "it's just one word, what's the big deal?" When I sat down and thought about it, I saw the HUGE importance of ALWAYS getting my facts straight so viewers and readers are never misinformed. It may serve the msm so-called journalists a thing or two to go back to college and take Journalism 101; maybe they'd learn a thing or two. My professors (many of whom were journalists at one time) also were professional and never taught with a personal agenda, which is hard to find when one turns on the TV today. It is amazing to witness how the media have changed within just the last few years.
As a young conservative, I have been brought up with a great understanding of American History and the sacrifices that were made to make us the great country we are today. Love of country, freedom, moral responsibility, fiscal responsibility, honesty and integrity are just some of the things that make me proud to call myself a conservative. Although I was just a child when he was president, Ronald Reagan is a great hero of mine, and he is the symbol of what being a conservative means to me. While president, he transformed America into a beacon of light to the world, a force to be reckoned with. Conservative ideals are the future, not the past. As conservatives, we need not be afraid to stand up and voice our concerns and ideas in order to make our country the great country it was under the great Ronald Reagan. We can't just sit back and watch as America gets turned into a socialist country in which big government watches and controls every single step you take a la Big Brother style. Fellow conservatives, if you take anything away from this post, I hope you take away the fact that we are stronger together when we unite for a common cause. Let us stand up and fight together, brothers and sisters for the values and ideals that we hold most dear for there is no time like the present!!! And always remember, you are not alone!!!

Prolife Message from a Conservative Girl

This entry comes as I am traveling down the road. As a young woman, abortion is a topic that seems to be looked at by many as not much of a phenomenon, which is is very sad given the circumstances of what actually takes place during an abortion. I know it is not very politically correct to voice a personal opinion, but frankly I really don't care :) So this is going to be an entry from the heart, and frankly, I wish the folks in D.C. would speak from the heart on matters that personally affect them.

As a woman who values life, it pains me to think about the endless number of unborn babies who lose their lives to abortion each year. I began taking my pro life stance seriously when I entered my mid 20s. All life is precious, and a baby deserves the chance to grow up. If given the chance, he or she may grow up to become to become a doctor, teacher, lawyer, or even president. The possibilities for these children are endless.
As you all know, my role model is AK Governor Sarah Palin. The ultimate reason I respect her so much is because she walks the walk, which is the reason so many fear her. Those who fear her are unable to do so. In choosing life, Sarah welcomed into the world, a precious, perfect baby boy, Trig, who was born with Down Syndrome. Trig is the apple of not only his family's eyes, but of Americans everywhere as he captured the hearts and minds of Americans when we were first introduced to him during the 2008 presidential campaign. There are so many children like Trig all over our great country, and it is true that children with special needs will face challenges, but the joys they will experience will far exceed the challenges that will come their way. It is sad to think that so many children with birth defects are aborted each year; the numbers are staggering. During the 2008 presidential campaign, I remember hearing that an estimated 90% of unborn babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted each year. When I look at beautiful children like Trig, I can't imagine how someone could choose to abort a sweet, innocent child with little fingers and toes, who will one day grow big enough to hold on to his or her mommy or daddy's hand and big enough to sit on daddy's shoulders. It's the everyday little things that matter most.
Life is precious and a woman who chooses life should be commended. In just having the baby and choosing life, she is giving her baby a chance. Yes, it is true that some women are not able to care for their newborns, but their are so many parents out there looking to adopt. If adoption was discussed more, I believe more women would choose life. Women unable to have children and those parents just wanting the chance to adopt would also greatly benefit. I know women who unexpectedly become pregnant are scared and sometimes don't know whom to turn, but those who choose life are heroes in my eyes and deserve our continuous thanks and support. Bristol Palin is a young woman who deserves just that. In choosing life, she welcomed the sweetest, most beautiful baby boy into the world and should be commended for keeping her baby. As she told Fox New's Greta Van Susteran, she can't even begin to imagine life without her sweet baby, Tripp. Bristol is a great example of a young woman, who despite her circumstances, persevered and became a stronger woman who is now a great mother;little Tripp is lucky to have her.
In closing, I began writing this entry a couple days ago while traveling to my family's cabin near Lake Tahoe. Since. I started writing this entry, I have had the chance to sit amongst the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and reflect upon my pro life stance and how important it is in my life along with my faith in Jesus Christ. Becoming a mother changes a woman's life, and I can't wait till the day I have children of my own. Being a parent is one of the most rewarding God-given responsibilities, full of a lot of firsts: First word, first step, first haircut, first day of school, first dance, first boyfriend or girlfriend, These are milestones in a child's life; don't all children deserve to reach these important milestones? I can't wait to experience all of these firsts with my child. Although being a parent can be tough at times, the joys that comes along with being a parent make it well worth it. Children ARE our future, and ALL children deserve the chance to live out their dreams. Let's let them do that!!!
