UK, No Way!!!

Remember how the Obama Administration and the liberal left accused Sarah Palin of using scare tactics when she said "death panels" were present in the health care bill? Although the administration said the "death panel" language was not present in the bill, the language in question was quickly removed. Hmmm. We all know this language WAS present, and members of congress and our humble president were just covering their behinds. Well, the discussion is back at the forefront, that is, if it ever really went away.

There is no denying that President Obama wants to put a board in place, according to an article posted on "Real Clear Politics" entitled "Government Control Leads to Denial of Care" by Robert Tracinski, in order to, "provide 'guidance' about which treatments are 'cost-effective' and should be allowed."

The reason why the development of a board of this kind should bring you cause to alarm is because of what is happening. A board of this kind is currently being used in the British health care system. Not only will you be horrified about what you are about to read in relationship to a board of this magnitude, but you will be as angry as I was when I learned that what is happening there could very well happen here in America. It is alarming when people are being denied care just because they have a terminal illness, are elderly, have special needs, or are determined to be "not worth the care" anymore. According to Tracinski:

"As government health-care budgets inevitably spiral out of control, hospitals find themselves with insufficient resources, so a centralized health-care bureaucracy tries to control costs by making sure patients are granted or denied care according to predetermined rules drafted by a medical rationing board. Britain has one, the National Institutes for Health and Clinical Excellence, known by the Orwellian acronym NICE..."

This is outrageous. I guarantee that if this happens, we are going to go from a country that has one of the best health care systems, to a country with one of the worst. If instances like the one below are not downright frightening and shocking to you, then, I don't know what else is. Here's just one of the descriptions of the British health care system, which was published in the September 10th edition of the "Daily Mail" :

"Doctors left a premature baby to die because he was born two days too early, his devastated mother claimed yesterday. Sarah Capewell begged them to save her tiny son, who was born just 21 weeks and five days into her pregnancy-almost four months early. They ignored her pleas and allegedly told her they were following national guidelines that babies born before 22 weeks should not be given medical treatment. Miss Capewell, 23, said doctors refused to even see her son Jayden, who lived for almost two hours without any medical support. She was shocked to discover that another child, born in the US at 21 weeks and six days into her mother's pregnancy, had survived. Amillia Taylor was born in Florida in 2006 and celebrated her second birthday last October. She is the youngest premature baby to survive."

The above heartbreaking story is a phenomenal example about the vast differences between America and Britain- It truly is a matter of life and death. Not only could baby Jayden have been saved, but more importantly, it is a travesty that he wasn't given the care, that, currently here in America, he would have been given. Why in the world would our president want a board deciding what should be left up to doctors, their patients and their patients' families? How dare the government attempt to turn our country's health care system into a game of sorts in which they decide who lives or who dies? I'm sorry, but I don't want a board deciding what procedure I can and cannot have. Not only is this example important in illustrating the problem of a government-run health care system, but it illustrates the problems that happen when someone comes in between doctors and patients. The government has no right to play God.

There are many other horrendous stories coming out of Britain, and Tracinski's article gives many accounts of stories like the one above. Stories of sheer heartache, as well as events that would be considered against the law in America-for now, that is. Here's another account:

"A grandfather who beat cancer was wrongly told the disease had returned and left to die at a hospice which pioneered a controversial 'death pathway.' Doctors said there was nothing more they could do for 76-year- old Jack Jones, and his family claim he was denied food, water, and medication except pain killers. He died within two weeks. But tests after his death found that his cancer had not come back and he was in fact suffering from pneumonia brought on by a chest infection."

Is this what this administration wants for our country? With friends like these, who needs enemies? This is beyond scary. I sure as hell don't want this to happen here in America. It is time for this administration to wake up and stop spreading the falsehoods about how great a government-run health care system would be. Americans deserve the best, not the worst! This administration seems hell bent on destroying all that is good in America. I agree that our health care system could use some improvements, but the reforms being shoved down our throats will do just the opposite- the proposed reforms will destroy our health care system. Not only is it important to keep on the pressure, but it is vitally important that we voice our opposition loud and clear. Like you, I want to continue to live in the greatest, most vibrant country on earth. We are a country founded on capitalism, freedom, individualism and liberty, not a country founded on socialism; after all, IT'S MY LIFE, SO LET ME CHOOSE MY HEALTH CARE!

  1. Private health insurance IS available in GB. BUPA HSA etc.

There are more and more adverts for them every year.

£109 Billion for 60 million Brits.

Figure the cost for an American NHS in USA dollars and population size .... > $1 Trillion PER YEAR for substandard treatment. [Also dollar will be problem worth less than 50p soon.]
