Like many of you, I want to know why President Obama is taking so long to decide on whether or not to send more troops to Afghanistan? For me, the answer is a no-brainer. Of course we should listen to General McChrystal and send the number he requested. When he publicly stated we needed up to 40,000 more of our good men and women in uniform in Afghanistan, President Obama should have listened. The more time that goes by in not honoring General McChrystal's request, the more danger our troops are in. Just recently, we had the greatest number of loss of life in a single battle in Afghanistan since July 2008. Eight GIs lost their lives in an insurgent attack on outposts. How dare Obama travel to Copenhagen or even think to have any amount of time off when he has a decision to make? Our good men and women are putting their lives on the line to protect us, so President Obama should be doing everything in his power to support them.
President Obama should listen to generals like General McChrystal who know what is best; instead, he is doing the exact opposite by basically either ignoring the request of General McChrystal or worse, attempting to negotiate for a lesser number of troops. If so, how dare President Obama negotiate when our men and women are in the midst of such dangerous circumstances? How does Obama think we can win the war over the Taliban when he is not listening to the good men and women who know best? I know I am not an expert when it comes to military strategy, but even I know that our generals are the ones whom we should turn to in times like these. Last time I checked, President Obama never served in the military, and last time I checked, President Obama wasn't listening to his generals. If he was really listening, he would listen to General McChrystal and send more troops to Afghanistan so that we have the strongest possible defense against the Taliban- using the greatest resources possible in order to defeat these evil tyrants. It is up to you, President Obama, to protect our good men and women and do everything in your power to ensure they are given the best resources possible. So President Obama, on behalf of our brave men and women in uniform, please wise up and listen to someone other than yourself, Valerie Jarrett, Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod for a change.
The following is a new Facebook note Sarah posted on her page regarding the Afghanistan situation(http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin):
For two years as a
candidate, Senator Obama called for more resources for the war in Afghanistan and warned about the consequences of failure. As President, he announced a comprehensive new counterinsurgency strategy and handpicked the right general to execute it. Now General McChrystal is asking for additional troops to implement the strategy announced by President Obama in March. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers in harm's way in Afghanistan right now. We owe it to all those brave Americans serving in uniform to give them the tools they need to complete their mission.
We can win in Afghanistan by helping the Afghans build a stable representative state able to defend itself. And we must do what it takes to prevail. The stakes are very high. The 9/11 attacks were planned in Afghanistan, and if we are not successful there, al Qaeda will once again find a safe haven, the Taliban will impose its cruelty on the Afghan people, and Pakistan will be less stable.
Our allies and our adversaries are watching to see if we have the staying power to protect our interests in Afghanistan. I recently joined a group of Americans in urging President Obama to devote the resources necessary in Afghanistan and pledged to support him if he made the right decision. Now is not the time for cold feet, second thoughts, or indecision -- it is the time to act as commander-in-chief and approve the troops so clearly needed in Afghanistan.

Obama doesn't have a clue of what it takes to be a good commander-in-chief. The left can't stand war, period. The only reason Obama referred to Afghanistan as the "good war" during his campaign was to seem reasonable to the voters. He needs to stop being indecisive, and send Gen. McCrystal the troops he needs.
