Heels on, Gloves Off

As many of you already know, Sarah Palin is the main reason I started blogging. She is the reason why I have fallen in love with politics. If you would have asked me a year and a half ago where I saw myself in October 2009, I can tell you right now that my answer wouldn't come close to the life I find myself living now, and honestly, I couldn't be more thrilled and excited about how God has used me; furthermore, I cannot wait to see what he has in store for me next. With God, I know that anything is possible. He has opened so many doors for me, and I am having a great time on this journey called life. Having studied English and journalism in college, this blog has given me the opportunity to expand on what I learned, and I feel myself growing as a writer everyday. Writing, public speaking and politics are three of my passions, something I'd love to make a career out of. I thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read my blog each day; you will never know how grateful I am for the the support and kind words I receive from many of you each day.

I am not ashamed to say I am a proud conservative. Contrary to popular belief, it can be hip and cool to be a young conservative. While those in Hollywood will try to preach that liberal is the only way to be, don't falter and don't fall- stick to your conservative values. I know I don't have to tell many of you this twice because you don't and never have listened to those liberal freaks in Hollywood. Do they know what it's like to earn a hard-earned living? Do they know what it's a like to live on Mainstreet U.S.A? Do they know what it is to have to sacrifice on the battlefield like our soldiers do day in and day out? Do they know what it's like to have to say goodbye to a family member who's in the military knowing that it will be months before they are reunited? No, the majority do not.

As a young conservative, I want to spread the message of what conservatism REALLY represents. It's not about spending liberally, it's not about growing government, and it's not about voting with the democrats to grow government while calling yourself a Republican. Unfortunately, the previous items are what the Republican party has become. Although the Republican Party has strayed away from its core values of fiscal conservatism, small government and strong national defense, we are starting to see the conservative movement spread like wildfire, and I believe there is one individual who is responsible for this: Sarah Palin. Sarah re-energized America, and America continues to be re-energized because of her presence in it. She is unafraid to stand up and speak out. In endorsing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, she chose values over party. Hoffman represents the type of candidate who is needed in the Republican Party. Although he is a third party candidate, he is a conservative like Republicans Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint and Mike Pence. He is a conservative like Sarah Palin. The NY 23 race has captivated a country that is sick and tired of what is happening. Candidates with conservative values ARE the future of America. Doug Hoffman is proving this, and Bob McDonnell (running for governor of Virginia) is proving this too.

I am a tough cookie, and I am not afraid to fight the good fight. I am not going to sit back like a good girl while my country and conservative values are coming under attack. It was Sarah who taught me this. It was Sarah who stood, and continues to stand, tall and strong when she was attacked with the most vile of attacks. It IS Sarah who stands up for the conservative values so many of us share. Sarah IS our future!!! If you need an illustration of someone with sheer grit and intense determination, Sarah is that individual. Just as Ronald Reagan before her, she is going to lead us out of the wilderness and onto that shining city on a hill. While I have so many favorite "Sarah" quotes, it was something she said just up the freeway from me when she spoke at a rally in California during the campaign. I will never forget a fun one-liner of hers that I enjoy using from time to time. At this rally, Sarah said, "The heels are on, the gloves are off." Well said, Sarah. I know I'm ready, fellow readers, are you? While I know many of you are just not that into heels, go ahead and put on a happening pair of shoes, and let's take back the Republican Party, and make it a party we can once again can be proud to call ourselves members of.

Good for you! You know, I too, am still kind of new to all this political stuff, but I am trying to get an understanding of it, and learn more.

I think I got my first interest in politics just when 9/11 happened, which is why I posted my last post on my blog. Ever since that day, I have tried to learn and absorb as much as I can about politics, war, conservatism, and everyhing else.

And now I have found myself, here on Blogger with a lot of really decent, down-to-earth like-minded people, such as you.

I still have a long way to go, but I am trying. I may not be as educated as most on here (I only have a G.E.D.) but at least I am trying to hold my own. One good thing about all this is I love research, and I love to read.

Thank you for a great post. I wish Mrs. Palin and Mr. McCain had won. At least I voted for them.

Me too. Sarah was the reason I became a political junkie. Sometimes I wish my old life was back, but then I would've missed out on all this fun.

I like that: "The heels are on but the gloves are off."

I think what Sarah single handedly changed was the balance between those who are pro-life and those who are pro-abortion. [you'll have to google 'gallop abortion' and look for "more americans pro-life than pro-choice for first time" - my cut and paste has stopped working. :$] Pro-life is in the ascendency for two years running.

I think re fiscal conservatism that she is the right person in the right time. Reagan and Mrs T had a mandate for huge change coz they came in to sort the mess out created by the left: Carter and Old Labour respectively.

And every day, BHO is resembling Jimmy Carter. And Sarah is resembling Reagan but with MORE economic knowledge. Sarah's an 'Austrian' whereas Reagan was a Friedman Monetarist. For example: Reagan should have stopped the Fed from setting interest rates. Should have returned the Federal Act to its original state where it was illegal for it to buy government treasuries. But i give Reagan HUGE credit for having the politcal courage to put interest rates up to 20%. I can't blame him for the budget deficits because he had a cold war to win and a democrat congress to deal with.

Sarah fits the times and thus the bill: she contrasts herself with so called 'elites' who are nothing of the sort. A JD - BFD! Sarah knows Austrian economics. She sounds exactly like Peter Schiff and Dr Ron Paul ... when it comes to the economy that is. He's written 6 books on Austrian economics.

People are starting to realise that governemt interference and corruption caused the housing boom. Conservatives no longer having to defend Bush, are free to state a truth: George Bush messed it up: he was UNconservative. Conservatives now openly criticise George Bush for deficit spending and BHO is worse. They say "conservatism didn't lose in '08, George Bush republicanism lost. Republicans lost their way. They stopped being the party of Reagan."

Ronald Reagan put country b4 his career by embracing the recession of the early 80s as the cure to purge the economy of the mal-investments. He knew: no pain, no gain. that US had to take the tough medicine and go through the recession.

But George Bush did the opposite: he didn't want to go thru the post dot.com bust depression. So he and Greenspan created a housing bubble by cutting interest rates to 1%.

The criticism of Bush is relevant because BHO is doing the same only 10 times worse. BHO is yet another president without Reagan's courage to take the tough economic medicine.

I see the same character qualities in Sarah Palin as in Ronald Reagan. I also see that BHO is left-wing that even Jimmy Carter might say in relation to BHO "woah - that's a bit too liberal, Barack."

Sarah fits the bill more and more every day ... and the bill fits Sarah more and more everday ie she gets more refined on policy and the economy will collapse under BHO.

And just as Sarah Palin will be increasingly seen as Krytonite to BHO, BHO will increasingly be seen as Clark Kent rather than the caped crusader who will save the day.

I started my interest in Politics in 1960. I was in YOUNG DEMOCRATS back then because someone paid for my membership fee. They thought I was good material for leadership.
Long Story short I became a HS Teacher and used my money to pay for my interest and activism in current issues.
I marvel at your talents to write such long, coherent articles.
Keep It Up!

Thank you for this post - I do appreciate the candor and honesty involved. Was looking for conservative posts to link back to, and will definitely give this one more attention; what you're saying about the inability of liberals in elite positions to understand the experiences of more ordinary Americans is important.
